The Business Group Manager(BGM) is a P&L role with ownership and accountability for the Financing Events business.


The BGM manages all key event functions (production, marketing, sponsorship sales and operations), leading the business's management team of functional heads.

The role is customer facing, with high levels of client and customer interaction. In the role, the key priorities include growth and innovation - reviewing, revitalising and growing the existing products and identifying growth areas, delivering new large-scale events.

The BGM is financially literate, commercially savvy and with a keen eye for cost control without compromising on quality.

Person - Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
1. Principal Accountabilities
*Direct the strategy towards profitable growth and operation of the business
*Attend events (internal and industry events) with the principal objective of building a network of contacts within the business's core markets
*Develop strategic and operational plans that reflect long-term growth objectives and priorities
*Deliver regular and accurate forecasting for the business's future financial performance
*Assume full responsibility for the global events business, including full accountability for events P&L, for setting budgets and targets, and for monitoring operating and financial performance against these
*Build and maintain an effective team - including implementation of appropriate organisational structure as business grows and putting in place appropriate development and training
*Create and manage the team's incentives to align with the business's objective
2. Experience
*The ideal candidate will have experience and be able to provide evidence of:
oManaging a portfolio of commercial conferences ideally in the infrastructure, power, trade finance and energy sector
oManaging events with strong delegate and sponsorship/exhibition revenue streams
oBuilding an extensive list of senior level industry contacts
oCommercial acumen blending editorially progressive conference content with the commercial expectations of sponsors and attendees (including VIP guests, paid delegates and speakers)
oFinancial acumen - a solid understanding of event and business P&L management
oProduct development - a track record of producing large-scale new events
oManaging across functions including logistics, marketing, production and sponsorship sales
oBusiness development and networking - a strong track record of building revenue (and idea) generating relationships with senior industry stakeholders
